Hi there! I'm Jennifer.
Play Therapist and Tween and Teen Whisperer
Watching your child struggle with issues that you are not familiar with and not knowing where to turn can be very painful and scary. I want to help and work together to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and adolescents to process their emotions and teach them healthy coping skills to get them through life’s difficult times.
I have spent the last 10 years in public education, working as a secondary math and Special Education teacher before going into the counseling profession. I started my counseling career as a Crisis Intervention Counselor in an urban school district at the elementary and secondary level. I have clinical experience from working as a therapist, providing free counseling services to children and their families, as well as staff members in the district.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Math and Science Education from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) and a Master of Science in Counseling from Texas A&M University Commerce. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Counseling with a focus in Children and Adolescents. I am trained in Child-Centered Play Therapy, as well as specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and suicidality. I am very passionate about working with children, teens, and adults at all stages of life. I believe in meeting my clients where they are and view my role as a guide in their journey to be a more authentic version of themselves.
I am married and am a mom to two little ones. When I am not working, I love patio sitting with my friends, playing with my pets, exercising, or shopping the best deals at my favorite clothing stores.
