I was born in Texas, having spent most of my life in Hunt County. Counseling is not a foreign concept to me, as my mother has been one since I was a teenager. However, for the longest time, I was resistant to counseling, thinking I could handle everything myself. One day, a realization struck me—when your current approach isn’t working, it’s much easier to transform it with support than alone.
I believe that every person has the inherent capacity to alter their course, and that everybody’s path is shaped by their life leading to this moment. The present… gifts the opportunity to go in a new direction. Which direction that is can be unclear, especially with the complexity of life. I’m here to provide a safe, open space to explore the thoughts and feelings that guide your choices and find new possibilities for moving forward.
To be frank, I don’t think that this negates the stress life presents. And, paving your own way can be challenging and scary in itself. But I believe the power is within you to find a greater sense of contentment and resilience in your struggles—now and in the future. While it is not my place to choose your path, I can support you in finding a way to build an island no flood can overwhelm.
Currently, I am a graduate student pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University and a member of the American Counseling Association. In my personal life, I have experience working with my own trauma responses using mindfulness-based methods, focusing on developing my relationship to myself and my experience. In doing this, I have learned to clarify my values and act in alignment with them, supporting my well-being and building resilience to the stress of the world.
While this will be my first time working professionally in a counseling setting, I have spent a year providing support to adolescents through guitar instruction and 2 years as a college advisor. During this time, I have worked with many who are anxiously navigating transitions in their life while maintaining their occupational, social, and emotional needs. I understand that life is not always easy, and I would be honored to help you navigate the challenges you’re facing with steadiness and care.
